Chief of Staff

George "Zambo" Zamka

George is the Chief of Staff at Tactical Air Support. Initially founded on the model of the US Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and US Air Force’s Weapons School, Tactical Air Support is redefining government contracting as a non-traditional defense company focused on value-based, innovative, and technology-driven products and services for the US Armed Forces.

Zambo retired as a Colonel after 26 years of Service in the United States Marine Corps.  He flew the A-6 and F/A-18 operationally, to include 66 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm.  He was a Weapons and Tactics Instructor, an Instructor Pilot, and a Test Pilot. He was awarded the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

George has a 35-year career in aerospace, to include assignments at NASA as an Astronaut, Instructor Pilot and Research Pilot, and as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation at the FAA. As an Astronaut, George flew two missions to the International Space Station and commanded STS-130. George has over 5000 hours of flight experience in over 30 tactical, transport, helicopter, and training aircraft. He is a Commercial Pilot authorized to fly Experimental F-5 and T-38 aircraft.

George is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and has a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Test Pilot School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Senior Executive Fellows program.
